Jaime Hayón: the Spanish Artist-Designer
Jaime Hayón is a Spanish artist and designer born in Madrid in 1974. He started his studies in industrial design in Madrid then Paris and, ended up in Milan. There, he worked at Fabrica as the director of the design department.
Since 2001, Jaime owns his own studio, the Hayon Studio whose behind many projects across the world. For instance, he has collaborated with BD Barcelona, Baccarat or Swarowski among others.
In total, he counts with 3 offices. One in Italy where he started his company, the other in Barcelona when he went to live there. Last but not least in Valencia, the city that allows him to be where he wants. In other words, between the sea and Madrid his hometown. Jaime said to El País that he’s too much Mediterranean and Valencia allows him to draw on the terrace. Something he couldn’t do in London.
His vision has been exposed through his art in many international exhibitions. It all started with ‘Mediterranean Digital Baroque’ at London’s David Gill Gallery. Then, the doors opened to major venues like Vivid Gallery, Groninger Museum, Centre Pompidou or the Basel Art Fair.
Hayón has been rewarded with several times for his achievements. He won ‘Best Installation’ by Icon Magazine, Elle Deco International Award 2006 or MAISON&OBJET Designer Of The Year 2010. Obviously, he featured in the prestigious design magazines worldwide.
Considered as one of the most influential creators of the last decade, Jaime Hayón has decorated for leading hotels, restaurants, museums, etc.
He’s definitely, a complete artist that helps put Spain in the map and inspires us with his fine projects.
